The technical non wovens supplied are based on the following processes:-
Based on the principles of papermaking and characterised by short fibres incorporating chemical binders, the wet laid process is the only nonwoven manufacturing route capable of producing light weight veils from fibres such as carbon, nickel coated carbon and staple glass. Other fibres processed include aramid, polyester and a range of high performance thermoplastics. Characterised by extreme light weight capability and excellent fibre dispersion, applications include surface conductivity, static dissipation, enhanced corrosion resistance, EMI and RFI shielding, wear and impact resistance.

Dry laid and hydroentangled, spunlaced nonwovens are available in a range of fibres from para and meta aramid through high performance thermoplastics to fire resistant pre oxidised carbon and phenolics. Characterised by binder free processing, even fibre dispersion, low bulk and through thickness fibre architecture, spunlaced nonwovens have relatively high tensile strength and good dimensional stability. With the potential for multi layered structures incorporating glass, polyester or metal scrims applications include impact and wear resistance, static dissipation, surface fire resistance and high tensile mandrel wrapping. Products can be supplied “flat” for optimum surface finish or apertured for rapid resin wet out. Spunlaced products including conductive fibres are used in applications requiring surface static dissipation.

Multiple layer formation with the inclusion of textile fibre roll goods or metal scrims
Needle punched nonwovens tend to be low density, high bulk with excellent stretch characteristics. Available in a wide range of fibres and blends of dissimilar fibres, needled nonwovens are used as surfacing veils for complex shaped parts, as a finish mat for RTM and closed mould processes and as consumables such as breather and bleeder fabrics. Needle punched products including conductive fibres are used in applications requiring surface static dissipation.

Available in either nylon or polyester, the extruded, spun and drawn filaments are thermally or point bonded to achieve strength and integrity. With high tensile strength and excellent dimensional stability spunbonded nonwovens are particularly suitable for high tension winding applications, continuous processing and pultrusion.
